Rise 360 is Articulate's web-based authoring tool. Authors build in a browser by stacking ready-made blocks, and each course is fully responsive on computers, tablets and phones. A note on speed: Articulate markets AI-assisted building in Rise as "up to 9x faster". That is the vendor's figure. We found no independent study of Rise build times, so we plan each project from your content, media and review process rather than a rule of thumb.

Can you add custom icons and branding in Rise?
Yes, with some limits. Rise gives you strong brand controls but a fixed set of built-in icons. Here is how branding works in a Rise course we build:
Branding a Rise course, step by step
- Brand theme: Rise brands hold your logo, a primary color plus extra colors, and heading and body fonts, applied across the course.
- Your own fonts: custom fonts are uploaded in the course theme. Rise needs them as WOFF files (WOFF2 is not supported yet), so OTF or TTF fonts are converted first.
- Built-in icons: labeled graphic markers can be numbers or one of Rise's own marker styles and icons, in your brand color.
- Your own icons: Articulate's docs do not describe uploading custom marker icons. The usual way to add custom icons in Rise is to place your icon files as images, for example in an Image & text block next to the text, or to build the interaction in Storyline and embed it as a Storyline block when the icon must be clickable.
- Accessibility check: under WCAG, an icon that carries meaning needs a text alternative, while a purely decorative icon should be hidden from screen readers.

How you receive the editable Rise course: Rise courses live in Articulate's cloud, so we send a copy to your Rise 360 account with Articulate's "Send a copy" feature. Each copy is independent, and the recipient must be in the same Articulate regional data center, so we confirm your account region at the start.
LMS platforms: Rise courses we deliver are tested in your LMS. Client: a US regional hospital network with 5 hospitals.
Challenge: a 2-hour annual PDF and slide course that staff on shifts could not finish.

How to choose an Articulate Rise development company

When should you choose another tool?

An Articulate Rise developer turns your content into a finished Rise 360 course: lesson structure, writing for screens, choosing and building blocks, adding media and knowledge checks, applying your brand, and exporting a tested package for your LMS.
Partly. Rise offers built-in marker styles and icons in your brand color, but Articulate's docs do not describe uploading your own marker icons. Custom icons are usually added as images or inside a Storyline block.
Not to run the course: the exported SCORM or xAPI package plays in your LMS without one. You need an Articulate 360 subscription only if your team will edit the Rise course. Articulate keeps courses on its servers for up to 6 months after a subscription or trial ends, then they can no longer be edited.
