What is Elucidat, and what is it good for?
Elucidat is a cloud-based eLearning authoring tool: you build courses in a web browser and publish them to an LMS or as a web link. Learning Pool acquired Elucidat on October 23, 2025, and the tool is now sold by Confirm as "Create (formerly Elucidat)". The help center still calls the two editors Elucidat Author and Elucidat Create.
The vendor describes Create as best suited for "L&D teams in large, global organizations". That matches its feature set, which is strongest where many authors, brands and languages meet. Here is what the vendor's own documentation shows.

Our view: Elucidat is a strong choice for an enterprise authoring tool when several teams share one brand, the same course runs in many countries, and content changes often. It is a weaker fit for a single designer who needs heavily custom interactions or offline delivery.
Elucidat Author or Elucidat Create: which should you build in?
Elucidat Create is the vendor's "newer, more streamlined product", meant for people new to learning design or who need to build quickly. Elucidat Author is the full editor. The differences below come from the vendor's article on features in Author that are not in Create.

Create's own feature list includes templates and pre-built designs, PowerPoint import, AI features, version control, Styles, and simultaneous editing that locks the part someone else is editing. Its components cover presentational blocks (text and image, video, audio), interactions (accordions, carousel, timeline, flipcards, image explorer), grid navigation, questions (text choice, image choice, sortable, drag and drop) and a score summary.
Our recommendation: if your SMEs will maintain the course themselves and it is mainly linear, Create keeps things simple. If you need branching by role or score, Backup SCORM for offline learners, or tight permission control across departments, build in Author. Because Create projects can move to Author but not back, starting in Create is the lower-risk choice when you are unsure. IKHYA builds in Author, so your course can use branching, Backup SCORM and the API release whenever it needs them.
Which Elucidat release mode should you choose?
How you release an Elucidat course decides how updates work, whether learners need internet access, and what happens to live courses if your subscription ends. This is the question buyers most often overlook.

Elucidat counts the unique learners who access released courses each year. If your audience is very large, ask the vendor how learner numbers affect your plan before you choose.
Who owns the course? Whatever the release mode, ask your development vendor to work in an account you control, or to hand the project over to it, so your team can update the course later and your live releases do not depend on someone else's subscription.

What do Elucidat reviews say?
Before you commit to the tool, it helps to see what its users report on review sites such as G2, Software Advice and the eLearning Industry directory.
How to read these Elucidat reviews: users like how quickly they can build good-looking courses from templates, and they rate support highly. The complaints are about the limits of a template-based tool: less design freedom and some awkward editing. On G2, some reviews are marked as incentivized and collected by seller invite, so read the detailed comments, not only the score.
For an experienced development team, those limits matter less: an experienced designer plans around them, and should tell you early if your idea needs a different tool.

A consumer-goods retailer with store teams in Europe and North America kept product and policy training in separate PowerPoint decks and PDFs for each country. When is another authoring tool a better fit?
We build in Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, iSpring Suite, dominKnow ONE and Elucidat, so we can recommend the tool that fits your project rather than the one we prefer.
You need cmi5, AICC or very custom interactions
Elucidat does not export cmi5 or AICC. Storyline 360 publishes SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5 and AICC, and its triggers, layers and variables allow highly custom slide-based interactions.
You are a small team choosing between browser tools
