    Quick answer

Articulate Storyline development services in short

Articulate Storyline development services cover the full build of an eLearning course in Storyline 360: instructional design, storyboard, visual design, interactions, quizzes, accessibility, LMS publishing and testing. IKHYA does this for organizations in 40+ countries, delivers SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or xAPI packages, and hands over the editable .story files.

    What is Articulate Storyline?

Articulate Storyline 360 is a Windows desktop authoring tool for building interactive, slide-based eLearning. Its slide layers, triggers, states and variables let a developer create almost any interaction, and its player adjusts to screen size and orientation. Courses publish to an LMS as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5 or AICC.

    What is Articulate 360?

Articulate 360 is Articulate's subscription, now sold as Articulate 360 AI and billed per seat per year. It includes Storyline, Rise (a web-based tool for responsive courses), publishing for stakeholder review, Reach for distributing training and AI features. AI avatars and translation use credits bought separately.

    Why IKHYA

Why teams choose IKHYA for Storyline work

    Instructional design before slides

We plan objectives, practice and assessment first, then build. Storyline is the tool; the learning design is what changes behavior.

One team for the whole build

Instructional design, visual design, Storyline development, voiceover, translation and LMS testing sit with one team, so you manage one supplier, not five freelancers.

    Tested in your LMS

Every course is tested in your LMS before launch. LMS platforms we have delivered courses to include Moodle, TalentLMS, Docebo and Cornerstone.

    You own the source files

You receive the editable Storyline (.story) files, so your team or any developer can update the course later.

    What we build

What our Articulate Storyline development services cover

Storyline is strongest when a course needs custom interactivity: decisions with consequences, realistic practice and tracking beyond "slide viewed". Here is what we build in Storyline.

    Branching scenarios

Decision trees where each choice leads to a different consequence, built with Storyline's slide layers, triggers, states and variables. Good for compliance, safety, sales and customer conversations.

    Software simulations

Step-by-step practice for ERP, CRM, HRIS and other systems in show-me, try-me and test-me versions. Storyline records the screen once and reuses the recording in View, Try and Test mode.

    Custom quizzes and result slides

Question banks, custom question layouts with feedback layers, and result slides that report to your LMS. Storyline offers graded, survey, blank and combined result slides; a combined result slide can require learners to pass every selected quiz to pass the course.

    Custom player and branding

A player that matches your brand: colors, fonts, text labels, logo, menu, resources and glossary, or no player frame at all for a chromeless design with your own navigation buttons. Storyline's modern player can lock navigation with a conditional seekbar and lets learners choose playback speed from 0.25x to 2x.

    Video with accessible controls

Video with captions and controls learners can use by keyboard or screen reader. Storyline's built-in video controls come in light and dark themes that exceed WCAG Level AA contrast guidelines, and we can design custom video controls with triggers when your brand needs them.

Custom flyout menus, layers and animations

Pop-up glossaries, flyout menus, tabs, timelines and drag-and-drop activities built from layers and triggers, plus entrance, exit and motion path animations that show a process, not just decorate a slide.

    JavaScript for advanced logic

When triggers are not enough, we add JavaScript triggers, for example to read or set Storyline variables or calculate scores. Articulate's support team does not help with custom JavaScript coding, so we keep it documented and test it on a web server or in your LMS, not just in preview.

    Accessible Storyline courses

Courses built to WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508: keyboard navigation, focus order, alt text, captions and color contrast planned from the storyboard. Storyline is designed to help courses meet these requirements; the build decisions make the difference.

We also use Storyline for PowerPoint and instructor-led course conversion (Storyline imports PowerPoint slides, which we then rebuild as real interactions), for redesigning old Flash or Storyline 3 courses into current HTML5 output, and for microlearning, gamified learning and blended learning packages that combine self-paced Storyline modules with in-person or virtual sessions.

    Compare your options

Freelancer, in-house team or agency: which fits your Storyline project?

Many teams first look for a freelance Articulate Storyline developer, and for some projects that is the right call. The options differ in capacity, skills coverage and risk, not just cost. Here is an honest comparison.

    Freelancer

    Freelance Storyline developer

    What it is

One independent developer, usually hired per project or on a time basis.

    Key benefits
    • Direct contact with the person building
    • Flexible for small jobs
    Consider
    • One person rarely covers instructional design, graphics, voiceover, translation and LMS testing
    • Capacity and holidays limit deadlines
    • Check who owns the source files
    Best for

Small updates, one short module, or extra hands for a team that already has instructional designers.

    Your team

    In-house Storyline developer

    What it is

An employee on your L&D team with an Articulate 360 seat.

    Key benefits
    • Knows your business
    • Available for quick edits and ongoing changes
    Consider
    • A steady workload is needed to justify the role
    • Peaks still need outside help
    • Storyline 360 authors only on Windows (Mac users need Windows running in Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion or Boot Camp)
    Best for

Organizations with a constant stream of course updates.

A mixed model also works: your in-house team keeps small edits, and we build the larger projects and hand over the source files so your team can maintain them. If you need extra hands for a busy period, we can also place a dedicated Storyline developer inside your team.

    Tool choice

When is Storyline not the right tool?

We work in seven authoring tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, iSpring Suite, dominKnow ONE and Elucidat. We recommend Storyline only when it fits. See our guide to eLearning authoring tools for the full picture.

Many programs combine tools: for example, Rise 360 for knowledge lessons and Storyline 360 for the scenario practice.

    40+ languages

    Storyline translation and localization

We translate and localize Storyline courses into 40+ languages, with human or AI voiceover. Storyline exports all course text as an XLIFF or Word file for translation and imports it back into a copy of the project, which keeps the master course intact. Storyline supports right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew and double-byte languages such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Some languages need more space than English, so we fix layouts in every language version and test each one in your LMS.

    Pricing

What drives the cost of a Storyline project?

Every Storyline project is quoted on its scope. The main cost drivers are:

    1. Course length: the number of screens and learner minutes.
    2. Interactivity: click-to-reveal screens cost less than branching scenarios, simulations or custom JavaScript.
    3. Media: custom illustrations, animation, video and characters.
    4. Voiceover: human or AI voiceover, and how many voices.
    5. Languages: each language adds translation, layout fixes, voiceover and testing.
    6. Accessibility: WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 requirements planned from the storyboard.
    7. Starting content: ready, approved content costs less than content we write from SME interviews.
    8. Review rounds and LMS testing: how many reviewers and rounds, and how many LMS platforms to test in.

For an accurate quote, send us your source content (or a sample), the target length, examples of the interactivity you want, your LMS, languages and deadline.
